    Transform your understanding of the materials you interact with every day. Guided by a professional textile graphic designer, Scouts will move beyond basic definitions to explore the global lifecycle of apparel—with a critical focus on eco-awareness and reducing landfill waste.

    To complete the technical fiber analysis, Scouts will need to gather the following required materials:

    5 Reference Garments (Must include care/content labels: 2 Natural, 2 Man-made, 1 Cellulosic).

    Magnification Tool (A traditional magnifier, jeweler's loupe, or a macro-lens smartphone app).

    Studio Drafting Supplies (Pencil, paper, and access to a printer for coursework documentation).

    Professionalism and safety are paramount in our digital studio. The email provided at registration serves as the primary hub for automated weekly updates and your final video verification link.

    Mandatory YPT Requirement: To comply strictly with Youth Protection Training standards, Scouts must copy a parent, guardian, or registered Scout Leader on all direct correspondence with the studio. This ensures complete transparency and models professional digital communication.

Step 2: ENROLL - Scouts gain access to a Self-Paced Course.  A Guardian must be present for Individual wrap-up video conf. meeting(s) and a guardian's email must be provided when registering with a scout email for use on email communications. Step 3: SELECT - Sandra Mucha as your Art Merit Badge Counselor in SCOUTBOOK to receive credit for this course - OR- A BSA Identification No. Is required to email the completed blue card pdf file.

Grab some cardstock or watercolor paper, and let's make some magic! And for our painting class, break out the acrylic supplies and canvas for an adventure in color and texture. Don't worry about supplies—we've got you covered with a complete list and online selections available for each course. Let's paint the town with creativity! 🎨🌟

  • Are art supplies included in the course?

    To ensure Scouts are working with professional-grade materials, supplies are not included, but a curated, required supply list is provided for each specific badge upon enrollment. Whether working with illustration markers, high-quality drawing papers, or heavy-body acrylics and archival mediums, you will have a clear, budget-friendly checklist with direct online links so your Scout is fully prepared for their studio sessions.

  • How does my Scout receive feedback and get their Blue Card signed?

    The courses are designed with a built-in portfolio system. Scouts will upload their completed requirements directly into the course platform for review. Once all modules are complete, we will schedule a live, virtual wrap-up call to review their work and finalize the badge. Please note: A guardian must be present on this video call to comply with all Youth Protection Training (YPT) standards. Following a successful review, I will provide the official signature for their Merit Badge record.

  • Is this a self-paced course or a live class?

    The curriculum is entirely self-paced, allowing Scouts to build their studio habits around their busy schedules. They have 24/7 access to the video modules, worksheets, and requirement guides. The only scheduled live interaction is the final wrap-up meeting for official badge verification.

  • How do we connect with you in Scoutbook?

    It is a simple process! Before beginning the coursework, parents or Troop Leaders should search for Sandra Mucha within the Scoutbook system under Registered Merit Badge Counselors and add me to the Scout's specific badge record (Art, Textiles, or Sculpture). This ensures the advancement tracking is officially linked from day one.
